Neon Drift — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Neon Drift ("the game," "we," "us") is an arcade game with optional online leaderboards, social features, and cosmetic purchases. This page explains what information the game collects, how it's used, and what choices you have.

Information we collect

When you set a callsign (username) and play, the game may collect and store:

We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or photos. Optional rewarded ads are available on iOS (see Advertising below); they are non-personalized, and we do not use advertising identifiers to build a profile of you or track you across other apps.

How your information is used

Callsigns, scores, and related stats are used solely to operate the game's features — showing rankings, daily challenge results, podium history, multiplayer matches, and restoring your progress and purchases across devices. Your callsign, scores, and related game data are not used to personalize ads or to build a profile of you, and are never sold to third parties.

Where your information is stored

Online game data is stored using Supabase, a third-party database hosting provider. Local game settings and progress are stored only on your own device and are never transmitted except when directly relevant to a game feature (leaderboard submissions, multiplayer matches, account linking, purchases, or progress backup as described on this page).

Purchases

Neon Drift offers optional cosmetic purchases (individual skins, combo packs and a Supporter Pack). All payments are processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS) — we never receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information. To deliver what you bought and keep it restorable on your other devices, we store a record of each purchase (the product purchased, and a purchase token or transaction identifier issued by Google Play or Apple) associated with your linked account identifier. We verify purchases and check for refunds directly with Google Play or Apple; if a purchase is refunded, the associated content is removed from your account.

On Android, purchases require a linked account (see below) so they can be restored if you switch devices or reinstall the game. On iOS, you can buy without signing in — the App Store ties the purchase to your Apple ID, and the content unlocks on that device. If you later sign in, tapping Restore Purchases attaches those purchases to your account so they carry to your other devices.

Advertising

On iOS, Neon Drift offers optional rewarded ads, provided by Google AdMob. On the web and on Android there are currently no ads at all. Where ads are available they appear only when you choose to watch one in exchange for an in-game benefit — an extra Daily Challenge attempt, restoring a streak, or doubling the experience points from a run — and are never forced and never shown during play. We request non-personalized ads, meaning ads are based on general context rather than a profile built from your activity, and we do not use advertising identifiers to track you across other apps. To serve, limit the frequency of, and measure these ads and to detect fraud or abuse, Google may process limited data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Neon Drift is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13; we do not serve ads on the basis that anyone is a child.

Embedded video

The home page of this website embeds the Neon Drift trailer from YouTube. The embed uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and is loaded lazily, so no YouTube cookie is set and no viewing data is sent simply because you visited the page. If you press play, YouTube receives your IP address and basic device information and may set cookies in order to play the video and count the view, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. The game itself contains no embedded video.

Data retention

All-time and Storm leaderboard entries are retained indefinitely, tied to your chosen callsign, so your best score can be displayed and updated over time. Daily Challenge leaderboard entries older than 60 days are automatically deleted on a routine basis. Multiplayer match history and win records are retained as point-in-time records. Purchase records are retained while your entitlement to the purchased content remains active.

Account linking

Neon Drift offers an optional feature that lets you link your chosen callsign to your account, using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple (iOS). This is intended to:

This feature is optional — the game continues to work with a self-chosen callsign alone if you prefer not to link an account, though social features won't be available. If you choose to link your account, we store a unique identifier provided by Google Sign-In or by Sign in with Apple, associated with your callsign. We do not access your real name, email address, contacts, or other account data from either provider beyond what's needed for this verification, and Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email address from us entirely.

If you rename a linked callsign, your leaderboard history (All-Time, Daily, and Storm) is moved to the new name as part of that process.

Backup without an account

You can back up your progress without linking any account, and without giving us anything about yourself. If you choose this in Settings, the game asks our server for a randomly generated recovery code and shows it to you. Your experience points, skin statistics and callsign are then stored against that code so you can restore them on another device by typing it in.

We store only a one-way cryptographic hash of the code, never the code itself — which means we cannot read it, cannot tell you what it is, and cannot recover it for you if you lose it. It is not linked to an email address, a phone number, a sign-in provider or any advertising identifier, and it is not used to identify you anywhere else in the game. Write it down; it is the only way back to that save.

A backup made this way can be deleted in-game the same way a linked account can (Settings → Profile → Danger Zone → Delete My Data).

Friends

If you use the optional Friends feature, we store the friend relationships between linked accounts (requests sent, accepted, and declined) so friends lists, friend leaderboards, and friend-only game modes work. Removing a friend deletes that relationship record.

Push notifications

If you choose to enable push notifications (for friend requests, challenge invitations, and match results), we store a device push token issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging, associated with your linked account. This token identifies your device for message delivery only. It is deleted when you turn notifications off in the game's settings, and tokens that permanently stop working (for example, after an uninstall) are removed automatically.

Your choices

You can play without linking any account, and you can back your progress up without one too (see Backup without an account above). You can turn push notifications off at any time in Settings. If you'd like your data removed, a linked account or a code-based backup can delete everything instantly in-game (Settings → Profile → Danger Zone → Delete My Data) — see our data deletion page for details and for the email process, or contact us using the information below. If you haven't linked an account, your callsign is self-chosen and not tied to any verified identity, so we may be unable to confirm ownership of a specific callsign, but we'll do our best to assist.

Children's privacy

There is nothing in Neon Drift that is unsuitable for a player of any age — no violence, no mature themes, no chat. That is why it carries the lowest content rating both stores offer (4+ on the App Store, Everyone on Google Play), and anyone who wants to play it is welcome to.

Being suitable for all ages is not the same as being aimed at children, and we want to be precise about the difference: Neon Drift is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. It has public leaderboards, friend lists and head-to-head matches, which are not features we build for young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the game evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
